Incredible Fantasy World of Thomas Fleming
Interview by: silverio pantalla
How
long have you been a artist? I like to think that I've been an
artist all my life, professionally I've been working for 13 years. How
is it like to be you as an artist? Chaotic, exiting, stressful,
fun, frustrating, rewarding, creative, stagnant at times, lucrative at times and
sometimes debt filled, but extremely fulfilling. What
projects do you feel best describes you as an artist? Comic,
Sci-fi, Fantasy, pinup artist/painter. What
has been your most exciting project?
Without a doubt the most exiting project that I have worked on was the new Jodie
Foster movie "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys" that will be
released sometime this summer or the fall probably. I
created and drew all the still artwork in the movie. I was the Official Illustrator
of the movie. I also supplied props and worked as a hand double to boot. Jodie
was great to work with and very down to earth for a star of her caliber. What
is your most important goal in life as an artist? To have some
sort of positive influence on the artworld in general and to leave behind a memorable
and positive legacy for my family. Oh, and to stop hunger all over the world with
edible artwork. What
is the biggest misunderstanding about yourself? People think
that working at home and drawing superheroes for a living is just easy and fun
work and that you don't have a "Real" job. Who
have been some of your main influences? Influences: Maxfield
Parrish, Frank Frazetta, Michael Whelan, Dave DeVries, Boris Vallejo, NC Wyeth,
Howard Pyle, Adam Hughes, Drew Struzan. Tell
me about your upcoming projects, activities and or events New
projects are: The cover art for "Cracked" Magazines Summer Movie
Special issue. Paperback cover for White-Wolf's "Wise and the Wicked,"
Drawings and coverart for a children's book called "Camellia the Bald,"
developing a line of Sexy Fantasy limited edition art prints featuring
some famous fitness models, actresses, and fantasy models that can be viewed on
my website, www.flemart.com.
